Exporting stems and CPU usage

Hi all,

when the stems export is finished, I would expect the CPU usage to decrease, and consequently the temperature. Instead it continues to work at maximum load, and the temperature remains high. The only solution is to close Ardour and reopen it.
Is this behavior correct?
This is a screenshot of my System Monitor started two seconds before the export ends (without any other important processes active):

Did the ardour process show as the top CPU user?
What does the DSP monitor in ardour show after export?

This is not normal and we need a lot more information.

  • What backend do you use? (ALSA, JACK, Pipewire, Pulseaudio)
  • What process causes the high load?
  • Does that happen with a only a specific session (maybe a plugin causes it)
  • What settings do you use for stem export (with or without processing), realtime export?
