I don’t see an option to export as aac? is it not possible?
My understanding that Ardour uses libsndfile which does not support aac. However, I believe your best bet would be to either convert an exported WAV or similar with an external application such as soundconverter (https://soundconverter.org/) or add a command as part of the “run after export” dialog.
