Explanation about 'Encoding' in 'Export Format Profiles' (Ardour Manual)

I want to export my work but the manual info is not complete. I need to export the audio file with 32 bit floating point (I will send it to mastering). But when I try to modify the options I can’t decide because the info is not clear.

In the Encoding (Linear encoding options) section there a 32-bit option, but don’t specify float. I think that must say 32-bit float, so maybe that option is fixed point (no float).

Nevertheless, there are two option without number: float and double. In Ardour Manual none option has a explanation, so I really can’t understand what option I must check.

I’ve worked with the next specs: 48 kHz / 24 bits

8/16/24/32 bit => integer formats

float => 32 bit (“single precision”) floating point

double => 80 bit (“double precision”) floating point

In general, favor integer formats when exporting.

Paul, thanks for your advice.

The next information need be in the official manual.
