I got problems with the EQ10Q (and others EQ6Q mono and stereo etc…) plugging, (with KX-Studio).
(Calf eq are good but when I need EQ10Q nothing replace it)
Two issues:
-If I close the window, then it appears badly (all squashed to the left) and the “Q” value is wrong always set to “2”.
-If I close ardour3, when I restart it, the “Q” value is also wrong (always set to “2”).
So I must save the setup (with “add” button or “save curve to file”) to recover my setup.
Is this Ardour3 bug? do I need to make bug report?
I can use gdb, can this help?
If this is not the case, I don’t know how help, what can I do?
I tested the 2-beta version directly from the developer’s website, and it works fine. The old v1 clearly has some major errors in how its GUI is drawn and managed.
I also build the beta2 of EQ10Q V2, but Ardour crashes if I want to open the plugin-GUI… I used the binary bundle of Ardour 3 from this site on Fedora 17.
There was a thread here a while back which discussed this and various other issues with this plugin, at length. IIRC the original problem only happened for some users in some circumstances etc. I guess the developer (or someone else with the necessary skills) needs to fix it properly.
Hi,
I realize that this is a popular plugin because it is one of the few FOSS EQ’s with this sort of UI layout (Calf EQ’s have rotary knobs which are not everyone’s visual cup of tea). However as the other thread will show the developer is still working on it and it just isn’t ready yet, even if the 2.0 beta version works it has a LOT of compilation warning messages and even if the UI works there is still a lot of work to do in the plugin’s DSP code. I suggest being patient and letting the developer take his time to complete what is a very promising project.
In the meantime we have world class EQ’s for Linux, although they are not FOSS you simply are not going to get better value for your money than to use linuxDSP’s EQ’s (on any platform). It is an unfortunate truth that there currently is a lack of FOSS EQ’s (with Graphical Interfaces) that even approach the quality that Ardour deserves (or complement Ardour’s potential). If we are patient with EQ-10’s developer hopefully that will change, if he has a donate link somewhere I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a little encouragement in that regard as well.
