Emulate middle-click on MacBook

It is possible to emulate “middle-click” (5 buttons mouse) for MIDI learn?
I m running Ardour 2.8.3 on Mac OS X 10.5 Intel MacBook
thx

Middle click would only be three button mouse, but no it is not possible to my knowledge. Doesn’t mean some third party program does it somehow though, but I don’t know of any off hand.

Hi,

try this app http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/download/SideTrack.dmg

It emulates every mouse control and I think it’s ok under Ardour. i’m using the right click emulation and does the dirty job.

Bye,

P.

RightClick should be possible just using System Preferences for the Mouse or Trackpad.

Reanimating an old thread…

There’s also this: http://magicprefs.com

MagicPrefs allows the user to emulate a middle click by, for instance, clicking with three fingers. I’m using the Apple Magic Mouse that has virtually no buttons at all, but I was able to assign MIDI learn after I installed the prefpane. By default it has the “middle axis” assigned to middle click, but I changed it to three-finger click to avoid problems.

It installed under Os X Sierra 10.12.3 and acted nicely under Ardour 5.8.

Helped immediately, thanks…

This article helped with both Magic Mouse and Trackpad on Catalina to get a middle click on my mac

Middle (https://middleclick.app) is a cut down version of Multitouch (https://multitouch.app) which are paid for apps. I didn’t try them.
