In version 9.x I have noticed / it has been spoken about, the idea of trying to simplify certain elements of Ardour interface (mainly the Main toolbar), to keep up/compare to other modern DAWs.
After seeing/hearing about this, in the past I had mentioned some ideas myself on this topic, all ignored 
However, I will mention another one here.
Somewhat recently the Editor toolbar seemed to also be being looked at.
The decision to split up the Zoom based controls and put a part of it in the bottom right corner of Editor.
I was thinking, rather then making static decisions for things like this,
I was wondering if maybe it would be a good idea to offer similar capabilities of the Main toolbar, offering the ability for users to show/hide items that appear in the Editors toolbar as well?
This way say user does not use/need Nudge field or Zoom drop down at the far right, user could just decide to hide them from their personal Editor toolbar if desired.

I made a more specific post about Zoom controls found in bottom right corner of Editor. Although they are not longer technically a part of the Editors toolbar, maybe could also add setting for this in the same section in Preferences in this is added?
