Editor Mixer width for multi out plugins

-The Editor Mixer (left sidebar) provides 2 width settings.
-I set mine to the larger width setting.
-This setting works fine for most tracks

ISSUE
Issue I noticed is with how instrument plugins with multiple outs are handled when larger width setting is used.
-If you set instrument plugins to fan out 10, 20, 40, etc. tracks
-Then when you click on that MIDI track box
-Editor Mixer ends up showing up with a huge width, lot of space to left and right of volume fader/meter
-Can be a surprise each time user clicks on/uses up & down arrows on a MIDI track box that contains one of these multi out plugins, because the whole Editor pane GUI shifts quickly to the right.
-So ideally would probably want to try to make the width as narrow as possible to prevent such a visual shift from occurring.

UPDATE
I was wondering if Ardour can be programmed to detect when a MIDI track has multiple outs, over a specific number?
Where if outs go beyond that number, the width, only for that specific MIDI track, switches over to the narrower width setting.

Not sure if this would be worth offering as a setting?
But it seems to me (if no conflicts) maybe would be better to just be updated as the default?
If someone can let me know if I should make a Mantis post about the topic.

The radio silence speaks volumes :slightly_smiling_face:

When I used to do a lot more with MIDI and fanned out to tracks (Drumgizmo, for example), I’d just get some magic Shift + E action on the go and POOF - the bloated mixer strip disappears from the left thus freeing up prime Editor real estate and allowing me to get on with my day.

Never thought much about it after that. Life’s just too short.
