Can you drag automation along with a set of regions? I seem to be able
to select automation points together with regions, but if I drag the
regions, the automation points don’t move.

Automation is not bound to the regions. The logic behind this is that you may have many regions within a track, and if the automation gets moved when you move one region, it screws everything up for all the other regions in the track.
However, there is region gain and panning automation (not to be confused with track gain and panning automation) that do move when the region is moved.

I’m trying to figure out how to do gain automation for regions – is that
the region envelope? I’ve been able to make it visible and enable it, but
I can’t figure out how to change it. This is Ardour 2.
Got the info on IRC – use the gain automation tool.
