Is it possible to insert a sample (.wav clip) and then drag it to extend it like in Reaper? Or do you have to copy and paste it many times and then align each copied sample with the previous one?

You mean like FL Studio 
. It is not currently possible via drag/drop.
“loopy regions” has been on our ToDo list since 2023, we mapped it out on a whiteboard but so far nobody has gotten around to implement it.
That step should not be necessary. You can simply keep pasting and they will align back to back. Or use Region > Duplicate > Multi-duplicate and add N copies, or even Region > Duplicate > Fill Track (to Session end marker).
