I was told to always disable pulse audio and also I heard that pulse Audio upsamples audio. I use my audio interface under ALSA or Jack but I don’t know if my audio settings are being altered in any way I have not disabled pulse audio in my Ubuntu 20.04 setup. I don’t want to have to disable but if it will cause issues then I don’t know.
Ardour’s own ALSA backend and JACK do not lie to you about the sample rate. If they say they are using the interface at 48kHz, they are using it at 48kHz. There is no up or downsampling. Your Pulse settings are irrelevant to Ardour or JACK (unless you are using Ardour PulseAudio backend (which only does playback)).
