Development cycle LUA plugins

Hi,
is there a list of recommended steps for developing a LUA MIDI plugins?
I figured that the LUA plugins are only read once at program start and do not update while Ardour is running.
Is there a way to force updates to the loaded LUA plugins?

The intention is to save Lua DSP Plugins with the session. This way you can copy the session to different machines.

Once loaded the script is decoupled from the file. There is no way to force update the plugin.
You have to remove (shift + right-click) and reload it.
