is it possible to make busses look visually different in the edit view? Maybe via theming?
Sometimes I struggle to see what is a track and what is a bus in bigger sessions.
Maybe if they were “greyed-out” or darker, as it is not possible anyways to drop regions into them.

You can tweak the “audio bus base” alpha value in Preferences > Colors > Transparency to that effect. The “audio bus base” color can also be adjusted in the first tab.
Note that when upgrading ardour, color themes may evolve and locally-customized themes may break, in which case you may need to reset your theme.using the “Restore Defaults” button.
