Couple of my ardour tracks - vocal covers

Heres a couple of recent projects i have done.

Cover of The thin Ice by pink floyd. this is just a simple project using a backing track. Nothing fancy, though this session is a bit different to my normal sessions as there is gain automation used in vocal regions to even things up rather than using compression.

This one is a bit more complex as its an acoustic cover of legendary Devin Townsends Super Crush.

This really pushed my old computer to the limits as there is alot of processing going on.

The bass guitar is actually an acoustic guitar run through guitix as an insert with a pitch shifter and some bass enhancment.

there are a few things on the guitar, cant remember what but something a little odd was going on that makes it a little worbly, but just couldnt seem to get rid of it.

Lots of reverb in keeping with devin townsends “Goo” and i like that big spacey sound anyway.

Hi,

Nice job, I don’t know how you managed to balance clarity with that much Reverb but you did… what Reverb(s) did you use? BTW love the vocalists voice, great pitch and a warm ‘conversational’ tone to her voice.

Not really my usual fare but love the feel of the Super Crush cover (I don’t know the original). I think you’re missing the other URL to the Thin Ice cover. Great stuff.

whoops i posted the wrong link. Here it is above.

Thanks for the comment. yeah sometimes big reverbs can send stuff to the back . I think the trick with it is to use no predelay and just make sure the dry vocal track still has enough bite to cut through.

I used one of the Tal reverbs. cant remember which one. I usually use the blue Tal reverb and mess about with the high end filter and sometimes put EQ on the bus aswell. The top end on the Tal reverbs can be a bit wild.

is the original.
