Convert cue track to audio files in edit view?

The tracks in the Cue view are built up of clips. And each track in the Cue view corresponds to a track in the edit view. These edit tracks are empty to the eye. In Ableton Live you can print the session mode clips to audio clips in the Arrange view and do final arrangement end edits. Is it possible in Ardour 8.7 to print the Cue tracks to the corresponding edit view audio tracks?

Not possible. We took a different approach : you can sequence scenes on the timeline instead.

Printing would be nice, and we might get to it, but not until we have done clip recording.

Thank you for your quick reply and clarification.

Just for clarification for my old brain…
With " you can sequence scenes on the timeline instead" I assume you are referring to the Location markers track, or am I missing something?

In 8.7, yes, the location markers ruler/track can contain “Cue marks” which sequence scenes.

In earlier versions, they had their own track/ruler.

I did some experimenting and found a temporary solutiuon…
I did like this:

  1. In the cue view i put some midi drum clips connected to general midi drums.
  2. I used some follow option to jump between the different clips
  3. I inserted the starting cue point A in the location markers ruler in the edit view.
  4. I added a audio track called Print drums and connected the In selection to the Drum track.
  5. I added some delay effects to the drum track just to test the result.
  6. I turned on recording of the print drums track.
  7. Voila the drum cue track is printed to a audio track.
I understand that this is something obvious for you but it is new to me and can be useful as an intermediate solution until you may have implemented printing of cues to the edit view timeline… (if you decide to do so)
