Control Surface

Hello there,

I’m new to Ardour, and I’m running 3.5.403 in Ubuntu 14.04 with the lowlatency kernel. I have a Zoom R16, but it seems to be that getting the R16 to work as a control surface hasn’t been achieved yet. Given this, does anyone have any recommended cheap, minimal control surfaces that work well with Ardour? I’m primarily interested in basic mixing functions. I’ve done a little independent research, without much success.

Thanks for your help.

Hi !

Although it’s not that cheap, I am waiting for the Behringer X Touch Compact (with motorized faders) to be released : http://www.behringer.com/EN/products/X-TOUCH-COMPACT.aspx.
On the cheaper side is the Presonus Fader Port (also with motorized faders) : http://www.presonus.com/products/FaderPort

Best,
Pierre

Why not write the file to get your Zoom working as a control surface instead? Midi Maps aren’t nearly so difficult as programming, all you need is some time, basic ability to read and write XML and some knowledge of what MIDI the Zoom sends out.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look further into it.

I’m not quite there yet.
