Compiling Ardour for PalmLinux

Hey all… Great job on the project(s)…

I’ve been following the porting of Linux to Palm, namely the Tungsten T3.

After many months of following the T3 project and much trial and error, its finally working…

My question is very linux-noobian…

I want to try to use Ardour on my T3…

I figure there will be many hurdles to surmount before doing so… Can anyone offer their thoughts on the subject?

Worst of all, their user interface isn’t at all compatible with my T3 (resolution-wise) and I’d love to do a GUI takeoff on this, only more distinguished (see original Ardour GUI design):

Oh well… I know it’s a shot in the dark, but it doesn’t hurt to try…

Thanks

P.S. Here’s a link over to the same questions, posed to the palmlinux people…

  1. you’re kidding, right?
  2. if the palm doesn’t have a floating point unit, you’re dead in the water.

Ummm… Okay… Thanks anyway…

what do you want ardour on a palmtop for???
If your idea is just simple and plain recording with your palm, perhaps ecasound can suit to your needs, it’s a command line multitrack recorder much lighter than ardour and works with alsa, i.e. no need of Jack. >You can record with your palm and then on your main computer import the recorded audio in ardour to further develope your audio project.

… take a look at http://eca.cx

Thanks… Yeah that app looks good…

As far as my reasoning… I’m just the type of person who wants to push the limits of bad purchases (the palm), which I bought new a couple years ago and have regretted ever since…

Also worth a look is pdpda:

It should be possible to make a little multitracker in pd.
