Cold Whisper - Choosing the Beaten Track

Hi all.

Today I released the next song of my "Scorched Earth” album, called "Choosing the Beaten Track”. Before I forget, I have to shout out a big “thank you” to Luis Finotti (@finotti) who performed the awesome lead guitar parts on this one. Yaaay!

Again, here’s a list of things I/we used:

  • Audio interfaces / microphones:
    • Behringer UPhoria 404HD for guitars
    • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 + SM-57 for vocals
  • MusE: for MIDI sequencing (drums, bass, synths)
  • Ardour 6.9: for recording, cutting, mixing, and mastering
  • Drums: DrumGizmo + The CrocellKit
  • Bass: based on the Fender Jazz Bass soundfont I created a while ago (see the Your creations Polyphone Soundfonts forum)
  • Rhythm Guitars: played with my Gibson Les Paul and recorded “direct-in”
  • Used Plugins:
    • mostly Calf and LSP (parametric EQs, compressors)
    • Guitarix (GxAmplifier-X, GxTubeScreamer, GxZita_rev1-Stereo)
    • ZynAddSubFX for the Synths

And here are some screenshots of the project.

Great work all! Delicious guitar crunch and smokin’ solos! Vocalist has great character to her voice and super tuning, excellent mixing and work with Drumgizmo as well!

Thanks a lot.

Only two songs left to complete the album… :grinning:

Hmmm, I was thinking … sorry in advance for asking you directly this way:
One of the open songs is supposed to be a contrast to the other songs - a ballad/duet (but not a love song), with clean/acoustic guitars and some drums, bass and synths along the way.

Would you be interested in performing the male vocals for this?
The lyrics are existing already, as well as a raw mix including a test recording for the female vocal parts.
In case you say yes , feel free to mail me at bernhard.trummer@gmx.at

Best regards…

This was a fun project and the final result turned out really great! (Maybe except for the solos…)

Great job, @slash!
