Can't start jack

Using qjackctl 0.3.7. Actually, I tried several versions and had exactly the same problem.

This is from qjackctl’s messages:

I’m fairly certain I’ve done everything right (I’m not a n00b to audio on Linux), and I’m also fairly certain that the first person who replies to this will cause me to exclaim “d’oh!”.

I’m posting because this is a newly installed system and I’ve probably done this once too many times and have overlooked something basic. Once I nab this, I’ll be on my way to Ardour on my new Linux installation.

Solved. I had jack-audio-connection-kit compiled with dbus, which left me with no jackd.
