I swear that since I started using Ardour, enabling record on a track didn’t automatically send the signal through, but I can’t click the record button without the “In” button getting a boarder, showing it’s active but not individually selected. When I disable record ready, the boarder goes back to “Disk” and stays there. It’s just an auto swap between the two modes, but I don’t know what I hit to enable it and despite it being a simple fix in theory, I can’t find the setting to change it back.

There are 3 Setting that control the overall behavior:
- Hardware/Software monitoring (Window > Audio/MIDI Setup)
- Auto Input (Session > Properties, or Menu > Transport > Auto Input)
- Auto Input does ‘talkback’ (Edit > Preferences)
