But it didn’t work.

If you visit https://community.ardour.org/user does that list an active subscription?
If not, please contact downloads@ardour.org by email and include the PayPal Invoice ID.
Note that http://nightly.ardour.org asks for the username/password again (there is no shared login), double check that the credential are correct.
