Behringer X-Touch: Connections do not appear in Controller Section

Hi there,

I have connected an X-Touch in MC mode via USB to my Linux (Linux Mint) Computer.
Jacke is running and the Behringer appears in the Graph as in the “Connect” window from JackCTRL.
Adour is also visible there. Than I go to Preferences/Control Surface/Mackie/ …
I select the Behringer X-Touch there. The only connection shown is “Disconnected” and "Virtual Keyboard.

Is this the result from using the Demo Version - aka are Control Surfaces are disabled for the Demo Version. in this case I understand. Or is it a general Problem - how to fix it ?

thx Alexander

PS: I first want to test compatibility with my gear, before I donate

Hardware MIDI devices do not show up by default in JACK2, which is what you are probably using. You need to use a2jmidid -e or some other method to make them appear to JACK, or just stop using JACK and use Ardour’s ALSA backend, which will have all your MIDI hardware devices visible.

Dear Paul,

thx for the fast solution. I was not aware, that Ardour has its own backend.
What ever info in the web (Youtube or other) is talking about JackD.

  1. Yes, now the Controllers are appearing. I have two - a Master with wheel and the extender.

I tried a couple of settings, but the second one is not “used/active”.
What are your recommendation for the settings?

One Note: When you quit Ardour the Controller “sticks” in its state.
Maybe a bug or a missing “reset” command from the DAW.

  1. As Audio interfaces I use 3 Behringer UMC1820. Actually Ardour is only showing one of them.
Is it possible to create an aggregated Device or configure all 3 somehow?

Regards and thx Alexander
