.bak file will not load

Hi, new here and really like the DAW. I’m working on four new songs and three of them are going great.
Somehow, I saved the fourth session to a different disc location and received an error trying to load the session file.
I followed the information in the forum to change the .bak files to replace the original session and history files, but it still does not work.

I received this error now:

Something went seriously wrong. Ardour cannot continue.
Here are a few hints at what might be wrong:
ERROR: Cannot get existing session information from E:\Lost in the Neon Graveyard\Lost in the Neon Graveyard.ardour
ERROR: XML error: Premature end of data in tag chunk line 10450 in file:/E:/Lost%20in%20the%20Neon%20Graveyard/Lost%20in%20the%20Neon%20Graveyard.ardour at line 10450:7680
ERROR: XML error: Permission denied

Can anyone help?
I would like not to have to start over with the raw tracks as I had a bunch of unsaved editing time in so far.
Thanks!
(Running windows 10pro on an old lenovo laptop)

What does the end of the XML file look like? You can open the .ardour file in a text editor (like Notepad) and paste the last few lines here in a code block.

Errors like this general arise from system-level problems with writing and reading files on disk. Unfortunately.

Are you using OneDrive for your E: drive?

After receiving read/write errors on the source disc, I moved the folders to another drive and tried again.
This error is bigger.

I’m not using OneDrive. I had moved the folders/files from an internal drive to a usb to get them off of the full drive where I accidentally saved this session.

The beginning text references xml, but there is a tremendous amount of text that follows. I am not sure which blocks you would want copied and I definitely don’t want to copy the whole thing into the chat.

99.78% certain that these error are not caused by Ardour. There’s something not right about your access to or the status of the E: drive

Yeah, I figured the error is in the file or drive, not Ardour. I was hoping someone in here might know how to fix it before starting over with editing the session.
