audio file format with time stamp

Hello, I am not sure if this is the best forum for asking this, as this is most technicall than musical question.

I have several recordings made by different sources (computer, mobile, cameras…), and, as I know when they started, I have no problem with synchro. But, in the exportation, I would like to have a time stamp (i.e. audacity or VLC should show the time when the recording started, instead of starting by 0h:0m:0s).

Is that format existing, or I am just asking for a dream?

you want BWF (“Broadcast WAVE”) or MBWF (a 64 bit-sized version of BWF). These are just like their cousins WAV and RF64, but include an extra data chunk with time and origin information. Ardour supports both, and even has an option to switch from the 32 bit to the 64 bit version as necessary.

thank you, Paul.
