I haven’t fully investigated it yet. Also it is not really a problem, more an observation.
With pipewire as audioserver, it seems if i play youtube at the same time, if i export to audio, ardour crashes. If i use jack/pipewire in ardour.
I played music with mocp, and export to audio in ardour works just fine.
If i stop playback in firefox while i export audio, it also works fine.
I tested this on Slackware and AV Linux (both, the actual beta and the former release).
In AV Linux there is usually a newer PipeWire version in the ‘MX Test’ Repo. If you use the MX Package Installer found in the launchers on the left side of the panel select the MX Test tab and you should see an upgrade. I can’t build AV Linux from the Test Repo so an ISO may not always have the freshest PipeWire version but Test will usually have an update.
I hope that gives the info:
usename# pipewire --version
pipewire
Compiled with libpipewire 1.6.8
Linked with libpipewire 1.6.8
If this a known “issue”, all is good. I expected it to be a pipewire bug, but don’t know enough about such things.
I just had to switch to pipewire from jack, but i sure am not used to it yet. Working around the mentioned problem is easy enough (it took me really long to find out what made export audio crash, so i thought might be worth a thread, so others can find it too).
