Ardour6 gives the error “Failed to op audio device” where I did not find a solution for in this forum. I am on Windows. I payed for the current version and future updates (Ardour5 gives the same error). I tried every possible option in the menu.
(edit: Now that it works, I wanted to say that Ardour6 has improved very nicely compared to Ardour5. Ardour6 looks and controls way smoother. Great job!)
Some update of windows changed how windows gives applications permission to use the “microphone” (this means input 1 of the audio device). Try this:
Search for “microphone privacy settings” and change “Allow apps to access your microphone” to ON
Worked! Thanks! Windows can be such a rabbit hole. This is why I only use tools that also have Linux support, so I can switch to Ubuntu in the near future.
