I hope my explainations will be comprehensible, I’m just a french man!
I want to record my voice on track 2 while I listen what is on track 1.
The trouble is: I can’t find how not to record track 1 with my voice.
Thank you for your help.

Dusty: probably your audio interface is setup to capture the playback being sent to the speakers. You need to use a hardware mixer application to adjust this, because neither JACK nor Ardour get involved in adjusting your audio hardware settings (the task is too complex given the range of hardware). You need to set it up to capture from “Line In” or “Mic In” or something similar, rather than “Digital Mix” or some similar name.
Canonical programs for this are alsamixer (run in a terminal) or its GUI equivalents qamix and gamix.
This is a common problem when using the builtin Intel HDA audio chipset present on most modern computer motherboards.
My hardware is a MX 822 from Audiophony. Could you tell me if this product is correct to work ? It’s connected via USB and recognized with a standard audio USB codec:
