Ardour could not start JACK

I used to run Ardour just fine, but after trying to install and use “linuxband”, when I try to start Ardour, I get the following error in a window

"Ardour could not start JACK

There are several possible reasons:

  1. You requested audio parameters that are not supported…
  2. JACK is running as another user.

Please consider the possibilities, and perhaps try different parameters.?"

I can start and use Audacity with no problem. I tried the command “killall jackd” but is says no such thing…

Any sugestions?

Audacity does not use JACK by default, so it is not relevant as a comparison. There are many reasons for not being able to run JACK, but diagnosing them on a web forum is like having teeth pulled. Head over to IRC (see http://ardour.org/support for details) and get real time help.
