I’m italian, sorry for my bad english, I’ll do the best to explain and understand.
I have a little experience with Ardour 2 on Ubuntustudio 10.10 and now I’m using Ardour 3 on Ubuntustudio 14.04 with a new desktop pc. I have a M-audio Delta 1010 LT and actually I have principally 2 faults:
Sometimes when I close Ardour 3, it remains pending and I need to kill the processes of Ardour and jack … I think maybe a problem of jack but I have not idea how to resolve.
second thing … it can happen some crash random of Ardour3. have you similar faults? Thanks and kind regards.

I can confirm that I experience your first problem too. Often Ardour hangs when I quit and I need to kill the process.
As for your second thing, we will need some more details about the crashes. Is there anything particular you are doing when it crashes?
Ardour still has issues with midi, so if its midi stuff thats causing random crashes then unfortunatly theres nothing that can be done about that until the dev’s have finished working on the stuff they are doing just now (there are some important stuff being done before midi bugs can be addressed)
As for ardour hanging on exiting, it shouldnt do that. are you using ardours binary or is this ubuntu studios provided package.
Also 14.04 isnt that long out so there may be some bugs that need to be worked out.
personaly im sticking with 12.04 until its no longer supported as it works great.
Actually I don’t use midi with Ardour, for the hangs fault in past I see the same problem with 12.04 13.10 and rarely but it did happen with 10.10 with differents PC and different audio device now I’m using the default version in ubuntu studio 14.04.
For the crash it happens with massive use of the tracks … cut copy paste move regions
