I think the question may be about the FFADO mixer for the Pro40 which is described here:

@Paul: In Ardour the track’s input can be selected form the a child window where inputs are categorized as Ardour Buses,Tracks,Misc, Jack,Hardware" etc. but the SaffirePro40’s inputs are available under a tab named “Other”. Is this expected? I started the JACK with FFADO driver and i was expecting a JACK tab in ARDOUR I/O selection window.

@Edward Diehl: Thanks for the link, it helped to understand somethings about the FFADO mixer.

FFADO “mislabels” its ports, which is why they end up in “Other”. They should be under Hardware, like the ports corresponding to an ALSA device.
