Ardour 2 project file makes Ardour 4 crash

He Folks,

when I open an *.ardour project file I made with Ardour 2(.8?) than Ardour 4 crashes without further message.

Can it have something to do with the *.xml file that belongs to the respective *ardour project?

If anybody could have a look at it and tell me, if the old 2(.8?) Ardour xml-file is the problem, I’d be quite glad.

Thanks in advance,
Torsten

This needs to go on Mantis, not here. Click on the bug tracker link above and create a new issue, and make sure to attach your .ardour file from Ardour2 along with the crash log/gdb report, which you may need to download a debug version of Ardour to recreate with.

                Seablade

The same issue was reported 4 days ago (http://tracker.ardour.org/view.php?id=6359) and has already been fixed.

For future reference: please don’t post backtraces in the forum, the medium is not very well suited for bug reports. thanks.

Thanks Seablade and x42. I didn’t know it was a bug, thought it was my mistake.

Crashing software is NEVER the user’s fault (unless they really messed around with hidden stuff).

@ Paul. Thanks

Good that the bug has been fixed in 4.0-406-gce69096. Sadly I can not download this version because I bought Ardour for 45$ instead of subscribing. - Who’s fault is that now?

You will be able to download 4.1 when it is released without paying anything. Nightlies are reserved for subscribers.
