Ardour 2.7.1 slowly in full zoom in

Hi,

I’ve compiled ardour 2.7.1 in my ubuntu box with FREESOUND=1 LV2=1

When I do a “zoom in” (in the track view) many times ardour goes so slow, very slow.

It happends in a session with 10 or more tracks

correct.

when you zoom way in, ardour is displaying waveforms based on the actual audio data, not pre-computed “peakfiles”. with many tracks, even though you are zoomed in, its still a lot of data to read from disk.

this will eventually be fixed by us computing peakfiles at several different resolutions. meanwhile, you need a faster disk drive :slight_smile:
