@prko: you should be using fons adriensen’s ambisonics plugins as explained on http://ardour.org/node/2804
I think that I should download the following file:
http://www.kokkinizita.net/linuxaudio/downloads/AMB-plugins-0.6.1.tar.bz2
Does it run also under OS X?
Then I have unzipped and tried to compile it.
I have found an instruction to install in the package:
cd to the AMB-plugins directory
su
make install
However, I get only two error messages;
prko-desktop:~ prko$ cd /Users/prko/Downloads/AMB-plugins-0.6.1
prko-desktop:AMB-plugins-0.6.1 prko$ su

They technically should probably work under OS X knowing Fons, but noone has really modified the build process to work under OS X. Yet another thing that has been on my todo list for a while. I bet Paul missed that you were posting in the OS X area.
Seablade
not meaning to necrobump this, but it still shows up prominently in the search results when looking for ambisonics. However, the link is a 404. Here the waybackmachine from the last working version I found:
Sidenote: I am currently hunting down the ardour website for a more recent explanation, but have not found it yet. It may be hidden in plain sight.
So this info is likely TREMENDOUSLY out of date (As you mentioned, but I am making it clear) and shouldn’t be depended on at this point given it is over 15 years old.
