Alternative to EQ10Q plugin?

Every since I installed the latest version of Ardour, I have not been able to use
the plugins EQ10Q and CS10Q. They were the best to use, but its tiresome to have them
fail every time I install a new version of Ardour.

I get this error message when trying to load them:
2025-01-10T08:06:55 [ERROR]: failed to instantiate LV2 GUI

Are there any good free EQ and compressor alternatives for these plugins?

check out here.

ZL Equalizer and of course, LSP Eq

I have a plugin I tend to default to which is modeled on old analog consoles, with just high shelf, low shelf, and sweepable mids. My thinking was that with limited controls it is fast to just adjust and go and not get bogged down trying to optimize too much with a fully parametric EQ.
But after trying for quite a while and not getting the sound I was looking for, I put in x42 Equalizer instead, and in less than minute had what I wanted.
It is making me rethink my slavish devotion to emulating 40 year old analog practices.

If you need an eq, I would recommend the x-42 eq. The lsp parametric eq is also a high-quality equalizer.
If you need a dynamic eq , i would recommend the zl-eq

Ardour comes with the ACE EQ and compressor, which will always be available in future versions of Ardour. The prior suggestions are all good ones. Adding to the list, there is the plugin suite from Zam Audio. I think its developer was involved in the creation of some of the ACE plugins, but don’t quote me on that.

Heh of course I missed the obvious, good call on the ACE plugin, and yes Damien helped with several of the ACE plugins. I don’t remember the exact breakdown.

did you have any problems installing ZL Equalizer? when i add the path and rescan, the ZLEqualizer plugins (both VST2 and 3) give me the following error:

[ERROR]: Could not load VST3 plugin '/home/bentheass/COWS/software/ZLEqualizer/VST3/ZL Equalizer.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux/ZL Equalizer.so': /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.35' not found (required by /home/bentheass/COWS/software/ZLEqualizer/VST3/ZL Equalizer.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux/ZL Equalizer.so)
Cannot load VST3 module: '/home/bentheass/COWS/software/ZLEqualizer/VST3/ZL Equalizer.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux/ZL Equalizer.so'

naturally i already installed glibc_2.35 and restarted and everything to no avail.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about ZLEqualizer and the demos online look great, but for soem reason I can’t get it to load (this is Ubuntu Studio 20.04).

How did you install glibc 2.35?
Your OS doesn’t seem to be using it, so something hasn’t been done properly.

If you know how to compile software it’s probably better if you compile ZL EQ yourself, rather than using the pre-built package.
That way it’ll use your existing glibc, unless there’s something in the ZL code that actually uses a feature which doesn’t exist in your 2.31.
If that’s the case you may want to consider upgrading to Ubuntu Studio 22.04, which has 2.35

i certainly didn’t do something right lol. i tried to install 2.35 independently of 2.31 so i can just point ardour to it and not break anything else on my system. but long story short, i just upgraded to 22.04 and then 24.04 and now everything is working fine.
thanks for the reply!
