Allen & Heath CQ20 Mixer

I’m using Ardour 8.12 with the Allen & Heath CQ20 mixer, which sends 24 inputs to the DAW. On a Linux machine, Ardour + CQ20 works fine. But on Windows 11 (using a Snapdragon/ARM laptop) Ardour can’t see those inputs (only two “system” ones). I’d like to be able to use the laptop. Any suggestions?

I am not familiar with that device, but what sound system are you using ? Hopefully ASIO . Do not use MME.

Does the manufacturer provide drivers ?

I see there are dedicated USB audio drivers for Win10/11 on their product resources paage, did you install these?

Thanks for those comments. That’s obviously the answer.

However, it appears that Allen & Heath only currently have an ASIO driver for the Intel platform, and not for ARM/Snapdragon. That is a pity. I’ve asked them whether they will be doing an Asio driver for ARM, let’s wait and see what they say.

This has a Win11 ARM version. It may be worth a try:

Yes, thanks for that.

I’ve now tried it but I can’t get it to work. Steinberg’s ASIO driver installs OK and it can see the mixer (in the Steinberg control panel, and the mixer also shows up in the Windows sound settings), but unfortunately Ardour won’t start. That’s using the settings “ASIO” for driver, and “Steinberg built in ASIO Driver” for both input and output in the “Audio/MIDI Setup” window.
