Aftertouch and fader

Hi,

Can someone says me if it is now possible to connect the keyboard aftertouch with ardour fader ? (I now it wasn’t some years ago).

I would like that if I put a bigger pressure with my finger on the key, then the volume of the sound is stronger.

I have an Alesis VI49 keyboard ; it has (not polyphonic) aftertouch.

This remains impossible with just Ardour. We do not allow the use of aftertouch messages for generic MIDI control.

You would need to use a midifilter external to Ardour to transform the aftertouch message into a CC message.

I would also note that in my experience, most channel pressure (aftertouch) responses on most MIDI keyboards is extremely crude, and would not be particularly effective/sensitive as a means of controlling volume.
