What am I doing wrong here… It seems trivial yet…
I was sure that Shift-Drag the first tempo mark | the first time signature would move the first bar mark to the right hence adding free time before the first bar.

You cannot move the initial tempo or meter markers.
You can add a BBT marker denoted 1|1|0 anywhere in the timeline that you wish. Note that there are beleived to be bugs still lurking when more than one BBT marker is used.

Yet, when I ctrl+leftClick anywhere in the Bars:Beats ruler nothing happens. Is this feature available by default or is there an enable BBT somewhere ?
Steps to reproduce : new session → ctrl+leftClick anywhere in the Bars:Beats ruler → Nothing.
It is a wee bit inconsistent. Right click. I should fix that.
I did spam the Bars:Beats rule with (ctrl|shift|alt)+(left|right|middle) to no avail.
8.12.0 here.
right click brings up the BBT ruler context menu which includes “Add BBT Marker”
How in the world have I not tried just a right click… What is wrong with me.

To create a new BBT marker, ctrl-click on the Bars:Beats ruler.
