Acoustic Guitar Ambient album made completely with Ardour

I have an honour to share my brand new album here in this forum. This album is called “Guitar Meditations I” is made with Ardour, and nothing but Ardour. It is also my first solo album ever, after almost 50 years of playing guitar. All the songs are written, performed, recorded and mixed by me and created to be used as a soundtrack for meditation, relaxing – or just napping. Would be great if you check it out.

This seems promising, and I am interested!

But…
I don’t have or use Spotify.
Do you have another upload somewhere?

Cheers,

@H112 Hi and congrats on your album and congrats also to @Sojuzstudio!

If you feel like you’re not getting a warm welcome here, it’s not you it’s Spotify… Perhaps a few short years ago many people wouldn’t have cared what platform you were on (myself included) but for many people Spotify and other major services rampant promotion of AI artists and the usage of artist’s music submissions to train AI models without their permission (or at least making it clear in their usage agreements) has really angered many of us. I personally removed a few albums and singles that were hosted there and I know of other artists that have done the same. So just an explanation in case it was needed. Of course if you are completely on board with the new realities of marketing music and don’t mind your art being used to train AI then you may not care about any of this, in any case congrats on your work, I’d love to hear it as well if you wouldn’t mind also hosting it on Bandcamp which has at least some preventative measures in place for AI scraping.

Thanks for your comments @GMaq & Co. For me, making and sharing music has been so central that I have somewhat forgotten about the revolution of artificial intelligence and the digital giants. However, I will learn from this and in the future I will think more about those things, even if I only make music for my own pleasure and to share it with others as widely as possible. I need to start building a Bandcam page.
Peace and love!

Congratulations on the album – Guitar Meditations I feels like a soft blanket and a peaceful pause in the middle of a busy day. It’s awesome that everything was made in Ardour – it really gives the project a unique and personal touch. It was also a pleasure to put the final mastering touches on it.

I completely understand why Spotify isn’t everyone’s thing; for many here, Bandcamp or similar platforms are a much more comfortable option. Bandcamp also allows for physical releases like CDs, vinyl, and merch, which can beautifully complement the listening experience.

Looking forward to listening and enjoying it together!

Very nice sounding album. I can only listen on headphones at the moment, but I like the reverb balance, it gives a good atmosphere.

@Lexridge if I can momentarily interrupt this thread since I see you here and can’t PM you… Is there someplace else we can discuss FreeFactoryQT? I have it running here and have some questions…

And now back to that fantastic ambient guitar album! Sorry for the short detour…

AMEN

Speaking of bandcamp, I get an empty frame in my post when I try to embed the bandcamp player and I haven’t found a way to make it work yet. Is there any?

Is it not anywhere else other than Spotify?

Yes, that’s very nice. I like the laid-back atmosphere and could imagine listening to it in the dark. Don’t see any credits - are you playing everything yourself?

Yes, he recorded and played everything himself using Ardour on Linux.

He has a small home studio in the countryside in Finland, near the city of Turku.

A couple of years ago, he had a bit of a problem — he tended to have songs sitting in a drawer, but didn’t have the equipment or the skills to finish them on his own. I installed Linux and Ardour for him and helped him get started with recording. At that point, he was a complete beginner in that area.

I’ve been supporting him whenever needed, and the journey has taken many turns before leading to this release. It’s been wonderful to follow his path into the world of computer-based recording. And it’s great that Linux and Ardour have turned out to be tools he truly enjoys using.

These days, he’s actually quite independent with the whole process — and the phone doesn’t ring nearly as often as it did in the beginning. But of course, I’m always happy to help if he needs it. :slightly_smiling_face:
