It would seem that I can choose to insert multiple tracks but there’s no option to assign which input they use.
Example I will be only recording with Channel 1 of my interface but I need 6 tracks.
They will get set up with Track 1 input 1, Track 2 input 2, track 3 Loopback left, track 4 Loopback right then track 5 Input 1 and track 6 input 2.
Correct, this choice is not offered.
If this is important to you, you could write a Lua script to rewire them after the fact.
Otherwise, just open Window > Audio Connections and you’re a few clicks from having things the way you want.
Creating one track and duplicating it might be a quick method.
You could also make a track template if it’s something you need in multiple projects - The Ardour Manual - Track Templates
Thanks for the replies @paul and @DHealey
Yes I did what you recommended. I duplicated track 1 and then I easily saved this as a Template.
I’ve been testing a lot of different DAW’s and most of them, the more I use them, the more flaws I find. Ardour is the opposite. The more I use it the more I like it. You just have to figure out how to customize it to your liking.
