2 cuts around a bit of bad sound, delete, aaand?

I can’t move the remaining 2 segments to close up the sound I just deleted.
I’ve been editing tracks using this method forever. How do I do it in 8?

Assuming you are talking about regions on the timeline. Maybe you have locked their position (Menu > Region > Position > Lock), also check if the edit mode is “Slide” (top-left in the main toolbar).

Otherwise please describe the issue in more detail. A screenshot may also help.
