Yamaha DM3 on Linux

Hey!
Referring to this thread, did someone finally tried the USB interface of the DM3 on Linux? @bdp , @seablade ?
I work on a show tomorrow and the theater propose me this mixer.

I did not test with Linux yet, though I thought I heard about some people using it. Sorry I have been slammed busy over here and not had much free time at all to test anything, much less spin up a VM to test.

now you can hold your breath, I’ll try tomorrow!! :space_invader:

Ill be curious to hear your results as I am about to purchase one for my business (My daytime work I already have one) and while it will be primarily Mac at that point, always like having options.

For the record, I do find references like the comment from a Paul Davis (Not the same one I am sure) on this facebook post around the internet that seem to indicate at least basic functionality might work (But the split mode may not which is a shame).

Working here! At least I can receive and send sound through Jack. I didn’t used it intensely (I used a RME digiface USB (4 ADAT I/O) that finally work with latest kernels!), so no idea if it is reliable on long period of use. No ideal about Split mode…

Not sure I follow this comment, if you were testing the Yamaha why was the Digiface necessary?

Otherwise thanks for the update, good to know. I would definitely be curious about split mode and about multichannel support.

sorry for that, it was only to mention Digiface USB is now supported by ALSA. In the theater they had no ADAT card in the slot of the CL3, so they proposed me to use DM7 as a Dante USB device. But in the meanwhile I found an ADAT card (Yamaha M16-AT).

No need to say what I REALLY REALLY miss is DANTE support on Linux…

Well if you feel bold, see this : Dante on Linux - It (kinda) works! - #7 by baptiste

and guess what baptiste? it is the goal of my week! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for the link, I hadn’t found that one
