Music Production devroom @ FOSDEM 2026

Hey all,

just a quick reminder that the deadline is coming soon (Monday), so if you had any ideas that you wanted to submit and haven’t submitted yet, this weekend is a good time to do so

Hope to see you soon in Brussels!

I’m definitely going. As I’m a bit late I wonder if it’s still possible to submit a proposal?

Hi Jeremy,

submissions are handled via a system called Pretalx by FOSDEM itself. Not
sure at what hour they close submissions, if they’re still open, but
officially the deadline is today. Looking forward to seeing you there
either way!

Oh no! I totally missed that deadline  I hope to see you there anyway

I live in Brussels and for years I’ve been meaning to try to put together a little informal get together for the FOSS music production community.
Would there be some interest for something like that ?
We actually have quite an important community in Brussels for FOSS audio but it’s mostly french speaking, though I’m sure a lot of folks would be delighted to connect with the broader international community.

I’m thinking just a jam with some beers on the Friday night but it could be anything really.

Would there be some interest for something like that ?

I’m sure that people would appreciate an informal gathering of some sort! I’ll be in town Friday too, so unless I have different committments I’d definitely be happy to catch up with people who’ll attend the devroom. The only problem I see is that there’s no way to let people know about this: we can reach speakers via Pretalx, but not who might or might not attend the event, so it would need to be word of mouth, mostly. Otherwise, the best one could do is mentioning this on the FOSDEM mailing list, but not that many people follow it (I’m subscribed but rarely check, for instance).

Yes, that would be cool! Arriving on Friday too.

Yes please!
I’ll be arriving Friday also, but leaving early afternoon on sunday. Would love to meet up, as mentioned in another thread as well

Hopefully I’ll see some of you there! Here is the schedule for the Music Production devroom

If any of you will be in the room, please come and say hello! I’ll be managing the devroom with Steven Goodwin, so just look for the two guys in front with the blue FOSDEM t-shirts

Even though it’s in the latter end of my FOSDEM trip this year, I’ll do what I can to pop by, just for fun

Edit :
!!! CANCELLED !!!
Sorry, I posted a bit late last night and actually, I just realised this morning that the studio is rented.
Though it can’t take place this time, I really hope it will next time. Incidentally, you have my handle if you find yourself looking for a linux audio haven in Brussels.

Sorry for coming back so late and so last minute on this topic.
Shamefully copy-pasting from the other thread :

Ok, here’s the deal : I came home two weeks ago from a 6 month trip so I’m only just reopening the studio and the control room currently looks more like a junk room but heck, let’s do it.
I can receive about 20 people without being too crowded so if you’re in Brussels tomorrow from 6pm onward and want to meet up / jam, hit me up either by email via the form on my (shitty, out of date) website : www.mobiusproduction.be or on matrix @eamonn:tobin.in
I’ll have a few soft and beers but bring your own beverages
This is 100% disorganised, let’s play it by ear.

If all goes well, I’ll be there!

I tried to tune in but can not find any live-streams.
Are there recordings of the presentations?

EDIT: found it FOSDEM 2026 - Stream UA2.220 (Guillissen)

Hey all,

I took some time to write a long-ish report on the Music Production devroom (how it was born and how it went). It talks a bit of all presentations, so may be a useful report to those who missed it!

Fantastic! Thank you for this!
We had to get back to Denmark (driving took like 10 hrs, and there was work on the monday) so was really sad to have to leave right before the music production devroom began.

I can totally relate to the description of the ambience in the room. So pleasant and friendly and relaxed!

Here’s to another one for FOSDEM27!
