Issues with Mantis

I was wondering if someone could verify some issues I have always experienced when trying to use Mantis.
I am not sure if it is with Mantis itself, or if Ardour sets specific settings for users on that site but

1.) I can only make 3-4 posts at a time and then the site restricts any use after?
Receive a pink background / red text message that says can only perform something like 10 actions but this occurs after 3-4 posts.
2.) I cannot even make replies to existing posts once this restriction occurs.
3.) I have to wait I think an hour or two to get access back?
4.) Cannot figure out a way to edit my existing posts, for example if I make an error or discover something else about an issue that I want to update my original post about.
5.) No formatting supported at all for text, to try to make things look clearer for developers.
6.) What is the best way to search on that site?

Just trying to help report bugs, does not seem like it should be so restrictive.
If anyone has any information about any of these questions please let me know.
Thank You

There is ridiculous long-standing issue that you have to submit the post or reply within 5 mins after loading the page.

So ideally prepare type the report in a text editor and then copy it to mantis.

There are no restrictions as you mentioned 1-3. 4 is intentional. 5. basic html like <pre> is supported. re 6 mantis search and filtering is amazing and one of the reasons why it’s preferable to the forum. “View Issues” : View Issues - MantisBT

Most of what you complain about is annoying, yes.
But, it is what it is I suppose… :man_shrugging:

Also, I think 3 to 4 posts might contain “10” actions. For example, I think adding tags, images, etc., might(?) be considered “different actions”. Thus 3-4 posts might get you to that “10” limit seemingly early. (-Might even have to do with invalid/blocked submissions counting as a part of this “10” limit, idk.)

The limit also helps slow-down the flow of reports (presumably) for the small team of devs behind Ardour. ~Just one way of looking at it! : )

Also, FYI, but @x42 you are wrong on this:

I can indeed confirm that what has happened to @sound8 has also happened to me.

Just dug this screen-shot up:

Thank you guys for the responses.
To me, if someone is willing to spend the time to test and report bugs / make suggestions, probably should not be such a difficult process.
Having to make user keep spending time to keep coming back and having to wait hours just to make a couple of posts seems strange.

Thank you for confirming, at least it is not just me.
Yeah, it is not 10 posts, it is 10 actions so you are probably right that others things are counted as actions.
Not being interested in any of my posts 2 at a time or 15 at a time, still equals the same outcome

Again I know a lot of this is Mantis itself, but
Yes, smaller dev team, equals less of a chance that bugs/requests will be read and considered, so testing/making posts might already not be a good use of time for the user, so I just do not think that making the actual posting be even more difficult/time consuming as well, if that makes sense.

Anyways, thank you guys again for the responses, was not sure if it was just something with my account specifically.

Haha, yes, it definitely can feel like that sometimes.
But I can assure you they are at least reading all of them.

As they work to finish v9, there’s definitely a hierarchy here of what’s more urgent and what’s not.

I didn’t want to tag you, but if you or any other users experiencing this should come across this.
(Still have a little more testing to do to see how correct this is, but)
I think you right, this site might be viewing the adding of simple tags as an action. If you look in the “Timeline” column it shows separate instances stating that users have added a tag. Not only that but shows these instances in the Timeline one PER TAG ADDED!
I was trying to add tags in hopes that it would be more helpful to developers/users to find posts but that site seems to use it against you
Must be to defend against all those bots that run a muck just adding tags to any posts it can find

Thanks again for confirming and also for pointing out that it could have something to do with tags, images, etc.

I am aware, yes.
But I guess that’s just how things work around there…

If you’ve hit some limit, just make a note of the bug/etc. for later and then come back to post about it.
