Ardour and Reaper lead devs have a chat

The hosting service tells me it was “compromised” and needs rebuilding. I’ll try to get to it sometime … and will let people know here. Bloody wordpress …

If you have a MP3/MP4 master on a local machine I’d be happy to host it on my web space if that helps. I’m assuming that is not the issue though since you obvs have a host…

I will give an ear when time comes on…

That is a weird Ardour logo; with a lower-case a.

Are you certain this is the real thing

Might be worth checking out Faircamp and other audio-specific static website generators?

I finally carved out some time to listen to this. This is hands down my favorite part (slightly paraphrased):

Paul: … Model View Controller …
Justin: What’s that? Separating your UI from your actually main function of the program?
Paul: You didn’t have to put it quite so simply!

Guy with decades of experience and has developed a highly complex desktop app isn’t familiar with a term that some folks would consider to be table stakes in a software job interview.

I guess it just shows that sometimes we use terms that sound fancy and smart, but really boil down to simple concepts that people just kind of figure out on their own with enough experience.

Same here. Ardour also looks very nice.

This was awesome Paul, had a listen today.
Justin sounded a bit reserved, but hey…
Your discussion points were difficult, but very informative.

My favorite part was discussion about GUI frameworks, and custom OS independent framework, which I think is the biggest strength of Reaper.
I was blown away by emagic Logic 5, and how everything was “flush” without a hint of Windows… I wonder how they did it.

So you asked for suggestion on who to interview next?
One person I have in mind is Miller Puckette, author of Pure Data

Cheers!
